Take Action!

Campaign Goals

bulletIncrease awareness of the Castle Wilderness in the general public.  Inform the public of the importance of the Castle Wilderness as an important part of Alberta's ecosystem.  Ensure the public is aware of the threats to the region and the potential irrevocable damage these threats will lead to if current practices in the area continue unabated.

bulletThe ultimate goal of the Castle Wilderness Campaign is legislated protection of this area from industrial and ORV use.  Once protection is in place the area is to be protected using an ecosystem based management plan as opposed to the current resource based management.

bulletHighlights of a protected Castle Wilderness include:

bulletProtection of under represented areas of Alberta's natural eco-regions.

bulletProtection of a high diversity of animal and plant species in Alberta

bulletProtection of a unique region of Alberta's natural heritage

bulletSecuring of a wildlife corridor between Banff National Park and Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park

bulletContribution to the maintenance and restoration of the ecological integrity Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park.

bulletBegin to build an economy based on eco-tourism creating a sustainable long-term economy for the Pincher Creek area.
