Pathways & River Cleanup
 
Where & When:

The 41st Annual Calgary Pathways & River Cleanup takes places this Sunday, May 4, from 10 am to 1 pm. Once again, the Chinook Group is organizing a team to take part in the City-wide event and cleaning up the shoreline near the Calgary Zoo. A free breakfast for all participants takes place at 8:30 am at the Stu Peppard Arena (5300 19 Street SW), and our group will gather by the East entrance to the Zoo at 10 am. Anyone interested in joining Chinook Group team for the breakfast and the cleanup should contact Volunteer Co-ordinator Melanie Richard at: Melanie@sierraclubchinook.org or call 233-7332

Cool Cities meeting
 

Where & When:

On May 26th, as part of a Sierra Club National Tour, Executive Director Stephen Hazell, and National Campaigns Manager Jean Langlois, will be presenting Sierra Club of Canada's new "Cool Cities” campaign. Cool Cities is a network of activists taking the lead on climate change in cities and towns across Canada. It is about acting locally by tapping into the power of a global campaign. The meeting will be at 7PM at our normal public meeting location, the CAOC Building on the Bow River pathway at 1111 Memorial Drive NW.

Outings leadership training weekend

 
Where & When:

The Chinook Group's annual training weekend for new and existing outings leaders is being planned for the weekend of May 24-25. Anyone interested in becoming more involved in Sierra Club's popular outings program is encouraged to take part in this fun and valuable training session at the Shunda Creek Hostel in Nordegg. Where: H6 Curry Barracks
(just west of Garrison Woods)
4421 Quesnaywood Dr. S.W.
Dates of Market: Friday to Sunday
All year long
When: 8:00AM to 5:00PM (Friday and Saturday)
10:00AM to 4:00PM (Sunday)
The Calgary Farmers' Market is a great place to pickup some local produce, meat, crafts, and many other things.

There are also three organic vendor's at this market:

  1. Sunworks Farm - organic chicken, eggs, pork and lamb Lund's Organic Farm - organic vegetables and fruit
  2. Hoven Farms - organic beef
