Increase awareness of the Peace Park Plus Campaign in the
general public. Inform the public of the importance of the
protection of the Southeast British Columbia wilderness as an
important part of the mountain ecosystem. Ensure the
public is aware of the threats to the region and the potential
benefits that protection of the proposed area will bring to both
the local residents and the wilderness.
Ensure the protection of a wilderness corridor between
Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park and Banff National
Park. This protection will help ensure the long-term
viability of this wilderness while protecting the local economy.
The Sierra Club Canada Chinook Group is involved with several
different ways you can get involved in helping to expand protection
for Southeastern British Columbia. If you are interested in
any of these areas or have any general questions please contact David
Keith.
As part of our public awareness campaign we will be at special
events in Southern Alberta handing out information about the
Peace Park Plus Campaign all year.
The Sierra Club Chinook will be leading hikes to the proposed
protected areas in Southeastern British Columbia. You can also
see a detailed list of some upcoming Sierra Club Chinook Outings
and Trips.
