The Alberta Energy and Utilities Board (EUB) had a
"notice to residents" in a September 2003 Calgary Herald regarding an
"Application for well licenses to drill six sour natural gas
wells" to be located "approximately 1.1km east of the
southeast boundary of the city limits of Calgary and approximately 1.2km
north of the Bow River". This development not only has the
potential to lower property values in neighbouring communities, but it also poses health,
environmental, and safety hazards. Please note although the verdict
has been made Compton still has to accept the verdict by
August 15th. Also, the Calgary Health Region is appealing it
the latest decision by the EUB. |

Send A Letter - Its as easy as 1-2-3!
If you do not want these sour gas wells developed near
your home, then there is something you can do.
Yale University is one of the
largest shareholders in Compton Petroleum Corporation.
Compton’s plan to dig six new critical sour gas wells
one kilometre southeast of Calgary is opposed by the City
of Calgary, the Calgary Health Region as well as numerous
local residents.
In 1972 Yale adopted the guidelines set out in the
Ethical Investor which "require the university to take shareholder action to deal with company practices which appear to inflict significant social injury." Yale should act now to live up to those guidelines.
Please sign this automated letter to
tell Yale's President how you feel about this application.
The more pressure they receive from Calgarians the more
likely they will be to pressure Compton to drop this
application.
Remember that every voice and every letter
counts in winning a battle!
